The
System
The
Base
Kit
is
a
package
of
pre-engineered
tubular
steel
framing,
pre-sized
SIPs,
fasteners and
connectors. The components are erected in the field by the owner into an
insulated building shell, with the owner supplying the field work and additional
common building components. All openings, except for one 3' wide
door,
are
field
cut by others. |

The
Panels
PorterSIPs
are
made
of
two
sheets
of
7/16" oriented
strand
board
(OSB)
that
sandwich
a
thick
plastic
foam
core.
Panels
are
pre-cut
for
wall/roof
shapes,
and
the
edges
are
recessed
for
insertion
of
connecting splines
and
plates. Standard PorterSIPs are structural and can carry heavy
loads. These panels are further described in code report NER 467.

The
Frame
Space-Frames consist of tubular steel components with welded steel
connection plates that are bolted together in the field. In most cases,
the fasteners are
concealed.
Access
to
internal
bolt
connections are made
through
open
ends
of
the
tubes or through pre-cut entry holes that are later capped with cover
plates. Field welding is not required.
